Power Management in the AMULET Microprocessors

S.B. Furber, A. Efthymiou, J.D. Garside, D.W. Lloyd, M.J.G. Lewis, and S. Temple

Abstract

The AMULET microprocessors are asynchronous (clockless) implementations of the ARM 32-bit RISC architecture. Their asynchronous control framework has positive benefits for low-power applications as activity is reduced to the minimum required to perform the task in hand, whereas a clock inevitably incurs wasteful activity.
